An Eye Trained on the Majesty

Snapping the Spanish landscape by rail…

The trains of the day don’t make that clicky-clacking sound we imagine as we cruise the countryside, but I could hear it in my heart. Wildly alive and wondering how on earth everyone seemed so calm, as if the day was commonplace. Amazing how majesty is all in the eye and perspective of the beholder. Were I here for months, years even, perhaps I would come to take it all in stride…
But I doubt it.

It takes little for me to be awed. Add an ancient civilization alive before your eyes, centuries-old stone strune with the creative splash and flair of youngin’s, a vista showing off between rolling pampas, green waves of rich vegetation, Spanish haciendas, could never be among the mundane. It’s a world that looks like we leapt back in time …

except for the train … smooth as silk, pulsing along, not even a wobbly walk to the food car.

And then, there are the people, a doting dad and his sons heading home to Galicia where he grew up, the server behind the bar who offered me vino tinto and took me by the hand to the bus. (I’d booked a train to Sarria – unbeknownst to me there isn’t one. “Must read ticket fine print.” – So this lovely girl not only let me know a bus would come (oh joy, and not a given) but took me there.

Oh the myriad angels …

but that is for another post.

Here are the snaps of countryside, Madrid (taken by scurrying ride via taxi from one train station to the next impressive one).

And then on to Sarria, where I would heal, rest, meet a divine Albergue host to see me sorted.

The majesty is just beginning friends. Thanks for taking the ride with me, and recognizing that whenever we embark on a New Way, it is never just another day, but a world seemingly opening and showing off, just for us.

Let’s take every moment like this shall we kindreds?

  1. And so …. the next step in this “Spain” lifetime experience begins. There is nothing more exhilarating … and a little terrifying, than the butterflies in your stomach, telling you, you are stepping out of the box and into the unknown.
But it takes a person, relishing in every detail, to fully experience the journey.
And that is definitely you, my darling. Can’t wait to follow along as this wonderful journey unfolds.
    Sending hugs. Be safe twin.

    1. So so true sweetheart … although days in now it seems wild that I was ever concerned. The full and absolute embrace one feels in this place is surreal. Every little thing is cared for and tended to and angel arise daily. The next post just went up tonight… allll about that surrender and the crazy but divine happenings. Grateful to have you on the journey too twin. Tomorrow 3 1/2 hours to Arzua (an easy trek). Oh to be able to say that now. 😉💜🙏🏼

    1. Always so so deeply grateful to have you on the adventures with me in spirit, precious Helen. Just posted the next about Surrender … think that may resonate too 😉 Love and hugs, j
